Why the Brain is not Capable of Change
..I watched a short video from the co-founder of Cognomovement, Liz Larsen. In the video, she simply explained how the brain is not responsible for change and why in this transcript below.
"Really, the biggest mistake that most programs make, that are trying to make change, or trying to actually create change for a person, is if they're focused on their brain.
And the brain is not capable of making the change. It's just not.
The brain just interprets what the emotions are doing. And that's a greater system in the body. That's the nervous system that is constantly reacting and responding to stimulus from your past, yeah, from your future, of course and in the now, sure. But the only way to actually create real change and how you're handling any situation, and I mean like, finances, manifesting, relationships, consciousness, the whole thing is to be able to access that part of your body which can really make the change, and can do it right now. And that's the nervous system.
So this system that Bill McKenna and I created, actually is a simple exercise that gets directly into that part of the body that has the ability to make the change. What's fascinating is that it has the ability to change instantly, right now. If you know the simple steps for how to get in there, and make that adjustment.
The problem with most things is they take a lot of time. They tell you're gonna meditate for six months, you're going to do breath work for six weeks, you're going to change your thoughts for six days. No, no, no!
Eventually, maybe you'll make a change, but by then your life is already doing something else. The truth is, you want to be able to change it right now, in this moment. While you're in that reactive state. You use it. You use the reactive states to create the change.
Most people think that they're going to change their mind and the airy fairy thoughts on life is gonna get better, it is not. Because in minutes, you're right back to the way you felt before.
Instead, you're going to change it at the neurological level. You're going to change the way the body is creating that response.
Then, in doing that, you change everything right now.. you change the reality. You're reacting differently. You're having different thoughts, different choices, different feelings, different emotions. And then everything that you see around you appears to be a completely different or appears to be a different reality.
So having a simple exercise to change it right now, two minutes, three minutes, five minutes, ten minutes, is the way to change everything. And that's cumulative, it adds up. The more you can change that minute to minute. By doing this very simple physical exercise, the more your life becomes what you want it to be. Not just a reaction of...you know...past, future and present"
I personally could not have explained that any better. So I hope this made sense, and why Cognomovement is the reason I'm on this mission to make changes for those that want and need it the most.
