GI MAP TEST

Discover How Your Gut Bacteria Could Be The Root Cause Of Your Health Complaints

GI MAP TEST AND ITS PURPOSE

Do you suffer from gut issues like constipation, slow bowels, diarrhoea, bloating, gas, pain, food intolerances and are feeling frustrated by the lack of answers to these problems in mainstream medicine?

Chances are you have done some basic tests or even an endoscopy and/or colonoscopy to only be told you have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and just to avoid your ‘trigger foods’.

Maybe you’ve been told you have ‘leaky gut’.

Maybe it’s SIBO.

Maybe it’s stress or ‘all in your head’.

Well, we are here to tell you that you can now stop this guessing game as we have the missing piece to resolving these and many other health issues.

The key to recovery is understanding your gut function as well as your microbiome and addressing the imbalances which can all be addressed by this test.

ARE YOU STRUGGLING WITH...

  • Bloating, Gas, Irregular Bowel Motions (IBS)

  • Food & Histamine Intolerances

  • Immune System & Sinus Issues

  • Abdominal cramps or pain

  • Fatigue and Weakness

  • IBD (Crohns, Colitis)

  • Skin Conditions (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, boils)

  • Low Energy & Motivation

  • Brain Fog & Memory Issues

  • Auto Immune Conditions (Rheumatoid arthritis, MS, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, etc.)

  • Metabolic and hormonal issues (overweight, heavy and painful periods)

  • Mood Disorders (Anxiety, Depression)

  • Chronic Pain issues (fibromyalgia, inflammatory pain)

  • Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)

You may be surprised to learn that all of these symptoms, and more, have been linked to  inflammation and imbalances that are originating in the gut.

In the last few decades, DNA analysis has transformed the field of microbiology and gut health testing. Research from around the globe has characterized the GI microbiome. More than ever before, we are keenly aware of the health benefits and disease risks brought about by the microorganisms that inhabit the GI tract.

There are 500-1000 species of bacteria present in your digestive system and the latest research is beginning to reveal their vital role in your health. GI Map Stool Testing provides a range of markers that help us create a personalised treatment plan that targets the root causes of your issues.

By understanding your microbiome as well as the gut function, it’s possible to make very specific diet and supplement recommendations that facilitate healing much faster than working with symptoms alone.

The Complete GI Map Test also includes a comprehensive assessment of gastrointestinal health functional markers that are often not provided by other stool tests on the market, such as:

  • Calprotectin is an important protein released by neutrophils; a type of white blood cell. When there is inflammation in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, neutrophils move to the area and release calprotectin, resulting in increased levels in the stool. This test measures the level of calprotectin in stool as a way to detect inflammation in the intestines. Importantly, the test differentiates between IBD and IBS.

  • Zonulin is an important marker for leaky gut and other autoimmune disorders. Elevated levels of a zonulin family protein (ZFP) have been associated with metabolic syndrome and obesity; conditions that have been linked to increased intestinal permeability ("leaky gut")

  • Secretory IgA is secreted by mucosal tissue and represents the first line of defense of the (GI) mucosa and is central to the normal function of the (GI) tract as an immune barrier. Low levels can influence the elevated presence of parasites and/or dysbiotic bacteria to occur.

  • Gliadin is a component of gluten, the protein found in wheat and other field grass grains such as barley, malt and rye. The presence of anti-gliadin antibodies can indicate an immune response (in the gut) to gluten in the diet.

    • Pancreatic Elastase is an important enzyme produced by special (exocrine) tissue in the pancreas. This test measures the amount of elastase in stool to help evaluate whether a person's pancreas is functioning properly. Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency occurs when there is inadequate amount of proteolytic enzymes released and transported to the small intestine for proper food digestion and absorption of nutrients.

    • Steatocrit when elevated is indicative of fat malabsorption resulting in steatorrhea. This may generally result from pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, gut dysbiosis or a high fat diet.

    • Short-chain fatty acids are produced by the friendly bacteria in your gut. Short-chain fatty acids may also play an important role in health and disease. They may reduce the risk of inflammatory diseases including type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease and other conditions.

    • Beta-Glucoronidase is an enzyme produced by colonocytes as well as by anaerobic gut bacteria (particularly E. coli). It is an enzyme that breaks down complex carbohydrates. It can be seen elevated in (GI) infections, particularly enterocolitis.

    BUGS THAT TRIGGER GI INFLAMMATION

The GI Map Test Results list numerous pathogenic, opportunistic and beneficial bacteria as well as parasites, H.Pylori, candida and worms.

    • Helicobacter Pylori (H.Pylori): a full count including virulence factors- that tells us whether it’s a pathogenic strain or not. G.I Map is the ONLY test that can tell us whether your H.Pylori infection is problematic or not.
    • Pathogenic bacteria: Campylobacter, C difficile Toxin A & B, E coli 0157, Salmonella, Shiga-like Toxins, Shigella, etc.- usually picked up on ‘that trip to X country with bad food’. A large percentage of IBS cases start with an infection like this.
    • Parasites: Blastocystis, D. Fragilis, Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia
    • Worms: Roundworm, hookworm, etc.
    • Fungi/Yeast: including Candida
    • Opportunistic Bacteria: Streptococcus, Enterococcus, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, etc.
    • Autoimmune Triggering bacteria: Citrobacter, Klebsiella, Prevotella, etc.
    • Normal Gut Flora: Lactobacillus, Bifidobacter, Enterococcus, etc.
