Social Work: NASW-CA is the CE provider for social workers attending the Level 1 NARM Online Basics Training. This course meets the qualifications for Continuing Education for LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCCs, or LEPs as required by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences, provided by NASW-CA.

Registration Process for NARM Online Basics Training:

1. Click the “Apply for” link on the Level 1 NARM Online Basics Training page, which will take you to the corresponding training’s registration page
2. Review your payment options as well as the Refund, Transfer, and Cancellation policy on the registration page.
3. Choose your preferred payment plan and submit payment.
4. Upon completion of payment, you complete and submit the application form.
5. Sign the Waiver and Agreement forms.
6. You will receive email notification confirming your training registration and giving you further information about the training you registered for.
    

The NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) provides a trauma-informed framework for understanding the developmental disruptions caused by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and other forms of complex trauma (C-PTSD). The content of the NARM Online Basics Training, as a whole, provides an overview of this NARM framework, which includes a presentation on 5 developmental stages and the childhood adaptive strategies associated at each stage.  

In the first module, the training will focus on the place of the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) in the trauma-informed movement, including the current perspectives on ACEs and C-PTSD, the adaptive survival styles and the NARM 4 Pillars, and will present a framework for understanding the nature of developmental trauma. The second module focuses on the roles of helplessness and unmanaged empathy in the mental health professional and other allied helping professionals that can lead to professional burnout, as well as offers a deeper look into NARM Pillars #1 and #2. In the third module, disrupted emotions associated with early trauma and ways to identify the psychological, behavioral, and relational symptoms associated with disrupted emotional development will be highlighted; Pillars #3 and #4 will also be expounded upon in the third module. In the fourth module, other forms of complex trauma–including cultural and intergenerational trauma, attachment and adverse childhood experiences on child development–will be highlighted, as well as a greater understanding of the NARM principles for identifying and supporting post-traumatic growth and increased resiliency.
