Recyclable lash packaging is genius
The beauty industry is constantly evolving, and makeup artists like Louise from Lou Lou Lips are leading the way with innovative ideas that make life easier for both themselves and their clients. One such idea is the recyclable lash packaging that Louise has introduced. In a recent podcast interview with Vanessa Barney on The Makeup Insider, Louise discussed her journey as a makeup artist and her new product, individual lashes, which come in a unique and eco-friendly packaging.
Louise's inspiration for the recyclable lash packaging came from her own experience of running out of lashes in the middle of a job and having to rush around to find her favourite ones. She realised that other makeup artists might be facing the same frustration and decided to create a solution. The result is clever and convenient packaging that not only keeps the lashes safe but also allows makeup artists to order new ones on the go.
The packaging is made of recyclable materials, which is a great step towards sustainability in the beauty industry. It is important to note that the beauty industry generates a lot of waste, and packaging is a significant contributor to this waste. By using recyclable materials, Louise is reducing the environmental impact of her product and setting an example for others to follow.
Another great feature of the packaging is that it is refillable. This means that makeup artists can reuse the packaging by refilling it with new lashes, reducing the need for more packaging. This is a great way to save money and reduce waste at the same time.
The packaging is also designed to be convenient for makeup artists. It has a barcode that can be scanned to order new lashes, making it easy to replenish the supply on the go. This is a great feature for makeup artists who are constantly on the move and don't have the time to order lashes in advance.
One way to build a community is through working in retail. This can provide valuable experience and connections, as well as the opportunity to learn from other artists. Lou also emphasised the importance of finding people you can trust and rely on in the industry. This means building relationships with other artists whose work you admire and who share your values and work ethic.
Lou is a new mother, and discusses her experience balancing her career with the demands of motherhood.
She admits that it can be a challenge, especially since her baby is not yet in daycare. She relies on her mother and mother-in-law to help out when she has work commitments. This means that she has to be more selective about the jobs she takes on, as she cannot always rely on having someone available to look after her baby.
Breastfeeding also presents a challenge for the makeup artist, as she cannot always take breaks to pump during shoots. She has had to get creative, using portable pumps and even pumping in the car on the way to and from shoots. She has also had to supplement with formula when her stored milk runs out.
Despite these challenges, the makeup artist is happy to be back at work. She loves what she does and feels that it is important for her own sanity to have a creative outlet. She also acknowledges that having time away from her baby allows her to miss her, which is a nice feeling.
For other first-time mothers who are also makeup artists, the guest speaker advises them to go with the flow and not put too much pressure on themselves. She acknowledges that it can be difficult to balance work and motherhood, but emphasises the importance of doing what works and not stressing out too much.
In terms of kit favourites, Lou recommends Ned and Rose Quartz Gloss Balm from Lou Lou Lipstick and Lashes.
