Hello, I'm Sofia!

Camper Nathan with Sofia

From Sofia's foster family....

Sofia is very energetic, loves to play and run. Working on teaching her to play with people and not just by herself (tennis ball, rope, etc).

She is very laid back, after getting all that puppy energy out. Her immediate reaction is to play, but after getting the attention she needs, she just wants to cuddle.

Sofia is great with kids, she does jump when she meets a new "friend" or is overly excited to play, but is very gentle. She'll run and play and doesn't "charge" when playing but does "prance".

She does well with other dogs and cats, especially if the other critter is open to playing. If the other animal doesn't want to play, she calms down and usually just leaves them alone after a bit.

No growling or biting at all with current kiddos and pets.

We have walked her on a lease. She's apprehensive at first to leave the fenced yard, but once she realizes she's coming back she's all tail wags. She still pulls slightly, but hasn't yet darted or yanked the leash from us.

I am uncertain as to whether or not she is fully house trained. Right now her "room" is our front screened in porch with electricity, a fan, her food and water station, bed and access to the yard etc. The first two night she pottied in the screen room, but she was also afraid to venture into the large yard yet. But as soon as she was comfortable and realized she could go back and forth between the screen room and the yard she's only pottied outside.

We have not attempted any crate training.

In my opinion, Sofia's ideal home would be a family. Have a welcoming dog that enjoys playing and is obedient for her to follow their lead. Children that she can grow up with and that can/will play with her. Cats would even be OK if they are already used to a playful or active dog/kids. I would also love to see her be an inside/outside dog (rather than fully outside) to maximize her calm time and people time. Sofia would benefit from family outings and activities, as she does well in a vehicle and is very friendly.

A fenced in yard is always a plus. She's young, adventurous and friendly, so a fenced in yard would be ideal.

Although Sofia is the very definition of "puppy", she is gentle. If she can be touching you, she is. Whether it be laying at your feet, giving kisses, lap sitting if you'll allow it lol and even hugging! When she hugs, she sits and raises her paw and will motion you to hold it, we hug her and say "hugs" and she does
