"I am running my fifth marathon. The last four years I have had this thing with my hamstring where it lights up and burns for two days after my runs. My knee ached. My hip felt stiff. I have had physical therapy which has helped, but hasn't taken it away. This time I took a friend's advice and tried Universal Health Institute. It's been nothing short of a miracle. You know what my problem is now? It's forcing myself to slow down. My stride has opened up and I am running faster but with less steps. I have to get used to this."

This is Your Opportunity to Get:
A Treatment that Requires
No Downtime.
That's the point of getting this treatment. Yes! You can continue to move.
A Treatment that offers
Immediate Results (Without Pain).
If the problem is a Motion Chain Sequence Disorder, you will experience an immediate improvement in the movement once you are treated. It is noticeable; that fast.
A Treatment that Decreases Knee Pain & Tightness.
You are not going to get very far if the knee says No. Knees don't resist movement; they are made for it.
A Treatment that Increases Stride Efficiency.
Increase stride length, knee lift; improve single-leg balance. Efficiency starts at the pelvis, moves through the knee and carries through the ankle and foot. Any problem along the sequence reduces function.
Get happy knees!
Knees that are with you for every mile...
...even mile-16, 17, 18...
Sequences are chains of actions that happen in a particular order; in a particular way.
The joints involved in human gait and lower body movement are adaptive. That means, even though the sequences happen in a particular way; there are, in one set of legs, many options for 'sequences'. The legs adapt to their circumstances - and continue to move through the variety of demands we place upon them.
Your legs offer you the ability to step, move forward and backward, up and down, side to side...to jump, skip, hop. So many options! Yet, with the many options come many challenges; sometimes the joints become restricted by over-use, under-use, multi-movement-use or poor-use (read: stagnant positions...like lots of sitting!)
A Motion Chain Sequence Disorder is a disorder of the specific and correct chain of actions that ought to be happening. Instead, a more scrambled version of the movement occurs; the result of the inefficiency is joint, muscle, tendon, ligament...and even sometimes nerve pain.
The DIPLOMAT.
Think of the knee as a diplomat.
The job of the knee is to be the diplomat between big, vast, locomotive movements of the pelvis and the small, limited, stabilizing movements of the ankle and foot. If any one of those joints demands too much from the simple hinge structure of the knee, the knee must speak up.
Unless you were hit in the knee with a heavy, hard object, do not blame your knee itself for the problem. The cause of knee pain can be poor execution of hip, ankle or foot actions. It's important to identify any guilty party above or below the knee!
A normal sequence is maximally efficient and effective to move and balance the body.
Whenever the sequence is altered, efficiency and effectiveness suffer, and tissue damage begins.
The longer the disorder exists, the more tissue damage occurs. The damage could be boney, ligamentous or muscular.
Knee pain is fair warning that something is not right with the knee. If it's not right now, it won't necessarily be right tomorrow, or one month, one year or one decade from now.
It's important to stop the cause of the problem of knee pain. (And, it can be simple - really simple - if you take care of it early.)
Interrupting the disorderly sequence restores the joint and neighboring tissue to maximum efficiency and effectiveness; that gives you the chance for longevity and sustainability of your body parts.
It also helps you have pain free knees!

And, here is what they've said:
"I am 35 and have had knee pain since my sophomore year in high school. I mentioned it to Dr. Case when I was getting treatment for a wrist sprain...to see if she could help. She told me to lie face down on the table and asked me 'Can I take a look at it right now?' I swear to you, that is the last time I had that knee pain. I still don't know what she did, but she did it. She cracks me up. Just solved it right then and there."
"My first visit just made sense; what they said and what they did. I was a high school and college athlete and have a lot of experience with doctors and therapists. Not only did they fix my pelvis and my knee, they fixed my outlook. I had started to feel old. At 40 now; with their help, I feel better than I have in ten years."
"Whatever it was that caused my knee problem had gotten worse after I turned 60. I thought it was older-age. A worn out knee. It turns out I was wrong. After two treatments I could step down a stair again, with one leg at a time. It was impressive. Soon after that, I was stepping down several stairs, the right way, like a normal person. Knowing I was discombobulated rather than an old guy eased my mind. I decided to start training again."
"Every time I ski, something weird happens to my knee. I just go to UHI for a few days in a row and it's all better. I can tell the difference right away. So far, so good! Going strong after seven years!"
"Now that I am retired I play a lot of golf. UHI kept my knees in shape way back when I was running marathons. So when my hip and knee started to act up again [after my last big golf trip] I went straight back there. It took about a week. My knees felt brand new. I had no hip pain; just a little stiffness. Before that, I thought my knees were getting old or I needed a hip replacement."
"This approach is just plain smart. No gimmicks. Just straightforward assessment and no-nonsense corrections. Sometimes I still can't believe it. I have been coming here for almost thirteen years and they deliver, every time. I run. I do yoga. I have started skating. Knees are all good."
"I came here for a back problem. I thought it was causing the pain in my left knee. Now I think it was the knee problem that was causing the back problem. They taught me how to assess my lower leg alignment and gave me home exercises that really work. I use a lot of what they gave me while I am on the road. When I am back in Chicago I go in for my tune-up. I can almost tell you exactly what they'll find. They have taught me how to identify what's going on. That's probably the part I appreciate the most. I don't feel in the dark now."
"I decided to bring my kids in to get checked. Both of them play basketball. My oldest had been growing so fast that I thought his knee pain was just growing pains. After he got the treatment he told me 'Mom, that is just what I needed.' He went back to basketball and there was no more knee pain. It was not growing pains! His leg bones were out of alignment."
"I came in because my knees hurt badly. My doc told me I would have to get them replaced. I don't know if he still thinks that because I haven't seen him. I came here [to Universal Health Institute] and started my program, and, almost immediately, I felt a difference. Now they hardly hurt at all. I didn't hope for this much improvement. I would not have believed it was possible if you told me I would be saying this now."
An Interview with Dr. Amelia Case
(Founder, Universal Health Institute)
You Can't Sell What You Don't Buy.
"The most remarkable treatment I ever had was given to me by an old-timer from Longmeadow, Massachusetts. It was after my second year of graduate school, and, at the time, I had not yet learned much about the knee; plus I had never had any knee pain. But that summer everything changed. I had started running in the Connecticut hills and, before I knew it, I was immobile.
It came out of the blue. One day before, my knee was a regular knee; the next it was a mess. The pain was awful. There were other sensations, too, that made me feel unstable and vulnerable. It felt like it was going to give out if I tried to put any weight on my leg. The worse part of it was the sense of foreboding...that I would be stuck with the problem forever.
After two days of misery, my friend arranged an appointment with the doctor in Longmeadow. It was far away, but she assured me he was the guy to see.
In one visit, the pain - and my fears - were gone. I nearly skipped out of his office. Really, it was a kind of miracle for me.
It was that injury that convinced me how important it is to promptly handle and properly treat knee pain and injuries.
At UHI, we continue the time-honored tradition of taking great care of those big generous hinges in the leg - our wonderful knees. We have been doing it right - for knees and marathoners - for more than 28 years!
From All of Us here at Universal Health Institute: Go, 2018 Chicago Marathoners! We are here to help you now, and will be there in October to cheer you on!"
