No Different
From an Eye Appointment
What I do vs. What people think I do.
What do people think I do? Fix crazy people
What do I actually do? Tell people they’re not crazy.
One of the reasons people reach out to a professional is judgment.
They feel criticized.
They believe the lies.
They get up the courage to admit something’s wrong.
They are shocked and relieved to hear me say - they are not the problem.
Even if they DO have a chronic mental illness.
Do doctors yell at patients for having high blood pressure or diabetes?
I hope not.
Why do people think they are victims of physical health problems and that mental health issues are all your fault?
That’s nonsense.
Do doctors recommend you only see them if you are dying?
NO!
What it means to "normalize mental health."
Getting mental health support is no different from getting your eyes checked or your teeth cleaned.
Having a plan may even prevent a crisis.
What if, instead of being judged for your courage to acknowledge that you are imperfect and receiving proper care, the new norm was to hear, "Who’s your therapist?" Or, "Who’s your life coach?" As naturally as you’d hear, "Who’s your doctor?"
Who's your coach or mentor?
If you do not have a coach or mentor to walk you step by step along the way, go ahead and fill out an application. Perhaps one of our programs can help you.
