How to Set Up Order Bumps & Upsells in Kartra
In this video, I show you how to set up an order bump, and how to set up an upsell or downsell product after one particular offer that you have. This is a great way to increase your average cart value (aka sales total per customer) and offer your customers complimentary products that they can benefit from.
Order Bumps
An order bump is an offer embedded within the actual checkout form. In Kartra, you can only have one bump offer for one particular product.
Your customer will see the offer right before they click to process their payment for the initial product they wanted to get. It gives them a chance to add another (usually smaller) product before they process the payment (kind of like adding fries to your burger order) as an upgrade.
An important note about bump offers in Kartra: you cannot use PayPal as a payment processor as bump offers aren’t compatible with PayPal and therefore will not show up on the checkout form if PayPal is selected as a payment option in your Product settings. If you need to use PayPal and want to make an additional offer for your customer, upsells are another option.
Upsells
An upsell is offered on a separate page, after the customer clicks to confirm their initial purchase. This is great because you’re able to create an entire page and provide more information on your offer than you’d be able to do with a Bump Offer.
Essentially, after they purchase Product A, rather than simply going to a confirmation page, your customer is taken to the upsell page that offers them a special on another product they may be interested in.
You can also add multiple upsells/downsells and customize who sees what based on previous purchases. Here’s a visual example of what a funnel with 2 upsells could look like:
