(Happy winter solstice)

This weekend we celebrate worldwide WINTER SOLSTICE.

Every year again there is this specific moment in time where the sun delivers it’s fewest hours to the earth. Since ancient times this has been celebrated as an OPPORTUNITY FOR RENEWAL.

(at X-mas the light is born again)

I used to be fascinated and scared of the darkness.

As a child, I used to watch the stars for hours and wondering what the dark spaces between the stars

were….Was it just darkness or was it a hidden world of a trillion new opportunities.

Today it is scientists agree that black wholes & the darkness are nothing but empty space! On the contrary, they contain energy and SO MUCH MORE MYSTERY.

HAVE YOU EVER EXPERIENCED MOMENTS IN YOUR LIFE OF ABSENCE OF LIGHT?

I sure have.

I call them my TRANSFORMING MOMENTS.

It’s LIKE EVERYTHING YOU EVER THOUGHT THAT WAS GETS SMASHED INTO A MILLION SMITHEREENS! 

You die a little….and end up in NOMANSLAND

Oh my god the first time that ever happened to me I thought I would NEVER OVERCOME THIS.

I was 18. My BIG DREAM was to become a MUSICAL STAR. 

As I had passed my audition cum laude MY DREAM WAS COMING TRUE! 

Coming from a safe home and village I had hardly lived life. And moving to the big city I suddenly was surrounded by daughters and suns of big-shot actors.

I felt so tiny. Bit by bit I became LESS SPONTANEOUS AND CONFIDENT.

The result was I got SACKED in the middle of the school year with the words “ YOU WILL NEVER BECOME A GOOD ACTRESS”.

MY WORLD ENDED. I became DEPRESSED, caught glandular fever and there was NO LIGHT any more. It was like going through a dark tunnel and not knowing if I ever would find the light again.

But you know. Today, I realise 

THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING MOMENTS OF MY LIFE! Because in all that darkness I CAME SO CLOSE TO MY CORE BEING. And I learned during that time that if you just SURRENDER,

ALLOW AND EMBRACE THAT DARKNESS SOMETHING REALLY NEW GETS BORN INSIDE OF YOURSELF.

I took time to heal. I went to work on the island Guernsey for a while. And a year later I decided to study journalism, got my degree and even became a RADIO and TV STAR.

Life was goooooood! Doing my radio show in the morning I LOVED IT!

That’s what darkness does, it gives you a REBIRTH and brings you CLOSER TO YOUR CORE BEING (who you REALLY ARE – NOT – WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE)

In order to BECOME THAT BRIGHTER VERSION OF YOURSELF, YOU HAVE TO LET GO OF THE OLD. Sometimes this means old thoughts, old feelings, old friends, old lovers, old jobs, old teachers etc….(and AUCHHHH that HURTS)

Today I smile when I get confronted with ‘another’ DEATH and BIRTH inside of me.

(Does not mean it does not hurt anymore, aaaauch it fucking does! Sometimes it means I HAVE TO LET GO OF AN IMAGE I HAD OF SOMEONE THAT DOES NOT SERVE ME NOW ANY LONGER, (maybe even let go of the person again) but I know that when I surrender, accept, embrace and LET GO, THE LIGHT WILL COME AGAIN STRONGER THAN BEFORE AND I CAN SHINE BRIGHTER THAN BEFORE.

I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS !!!!!

These are days when a lot of us are struggling a little more with darkness.

SURRENDER! DON’T FIGHT IT! 

DON’T PRETEND IT’s NOT THERE (because then it will slam you a hundred times harder in the face !!!) MAKE IT YOU DARK ALLY and know 

THAT ALSO THIS SHALL PASS! Because inside of you something is trying so hard TO BE REBORN!
