What is Myopia
Those with myopia have difficulty seeing distant objects, leading to challenges like difficulty seeing a whiteboard at school.
Myopia occurs when the eye becomes too long or the focusing parts of the eye are too powerful, causing the image to focus in front of the retina instead of on it, resulting in blurred vision.
What Causes Myopia?
Research suggests that spending more time on near-work activities increases the likelihood of developing myopia.
Other potential factors include genetics (if one or both parents have myopia), behavior (spending less time outdoors and more time on close work such as reading or using digital devices), ethnicity (myopia is more common in Asia, affecting around 60-70% of people) ,environmental conditions (low levels of ambient light and excessive near-work activities) and nutritional deficiencies of vitamins and minerals.
